DIRECTOR
Larry McCracken is
retired vice
president of Communications for The Boeing Company at its world headquarters in Chicago.
In that role he assisted in the overall leadership and direction of the company's award-winning global
communications program. Responsibilities included public relations, employee and executive
communication, advertising and brand management, and international communications.
As vice president of public relations, McCracken led the communications efforts
surrounding Boeing's relocation from Seattle to Chicago in 2001. As a member of McDonnell
Douglas, he co-directed the internationally acclaimed communications activities when it
merged with Boeing in 1997.
Previously, he was director of media relations for Raytheon Company in Lexington, Mass.,
from 1986-1991.
In 1986, McCracken completed a 21-year Air Force career as the chief assistant to the
Assistant Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs, The Pentagon. He is a graduate of the
U.S. Air Force Academy, and has a master's degree in journalism from the University of
Oklahoma. He is a member of the board of Chicago's Goodman Theatre and the executive
committee of the Aerospace Industry Association's Communications Council.
Born April 17, 1943, he and his wife, Karen, live in Chicago. They have two daughters.
